Select the Updatemodifiedcontents.jsx file and click Load. Option B: Add to Menu (Recommended) Copy the script file to the Photoshop Scripts folder: Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2026\Presets\Scripts macOS: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2026/Presets/Scripts Restart Photoshop. The script will now appear under File > Scripts > AutoUpdateSmartObjects. 3. The Process Upon running, a dialog will ask you to Select the Source Folder. Choose the folder containing your assets. The script will scan every layer: If a match is found: It performs a "Safe Replace," updating the content and fixing any broken links. If it's an internal Smart Object (.psb): The script opens it, scans for nested layers inside, updates them, saves, and closes automatically. A final notification will show the total number of objects successfully processed. Best Practices Backup: Always keep a backup of your PSD before running automation scripts. Filename Matching: The script is case-insensitive, but the base name (excluding extension) must match for the auto-relink to work.
