My stage play, The Last Eunuch Marionette, is a gothic stage drama that explores identity, autonomy, and the haunting situation of being shaped—literally and figuratively—by others.Set in a small southern American town where power is maintained through wealth association, superficial display, and tactful silence, the play follows Marion, the last surviving eunuch in a marriage of manipulation. Once a cheerful, freedom loving man, he has now been repurposed as a living marionette for an elegant fantasy realm building plan of a manipulative, but destitute woman. Bound by strings he cannot see and commanded by voices he cannot disobey. Marian begins to question whether he is a relic, a prisoner, or something far stranger. In the end, Marion chooses his own direction, laboring day and night to achieve a noticeable illusion of accomplishment and prosperity, while as a puppet he builds his wife's fantasy fairy kingdom, over which she is queen. Sadly, he dies a hard death, leaving his once destitute wife, ruler over an elegant realm he spent his best years laboring to build.The Last Eunuch Marionette is a character‑driven, visually striking piece designed for intimate theatres or experimental stages. It blends physical theatre, symbolic movement, and lyrical dialogue to examine themes of bodily autonomy, political manipulation, and the fragile line between performance and personhood. The play runs approximately 180 minutes and features a cast of 13 actors.
