Vol. 2 Arturia MicroFreak Patches for Retro, Ambient & Electronica
The MicroFreak is one of my favourite instant gratification synths - you can dial in almost any synth sound thanks to the recent firmware updates. Building on my Vol. 1 patch bank gave me the perfect excuse to spend some time with it again. This time, the patches are focused on that Boards of Canada/Tycho sound more directly; tones that sound like they're fluttering and wow-ing on degraded tape to create a nostalgic but weirdly timeless palette. If you don't like how 'pristine' digital synths tend to sound, then this is the bank for you. Full patch playthrough. here (contains 24% reverb for demo purposes): https://youtu.be/5yhYn030mS0I made these with Firmware 5.0, so you'll need to update your MicroFreak because some of the patches make use of the granular engine and its accompanying factory samples. Info on how to do that, here: https://www.arturia.com/products/hardware-synths/microfreak/update. And if you use them in your own work, please tag me @soporist so I can listen and share 🎧
