AstroSkyRadarPro.Android
AstroSkyRadarPro for Android is a real-time, interactive sky dome visualizer that shows everything moving above you — satellites, planets, stars, the Sun, the Moon, asteroids, comets, and aircraft — all on a single unified display.THE SKY DOMEThe main view is a circular stereographic projection of the sky above your horizon. Cardinal directions (N/S/E/W) and elevation rings help you orient yourself. The dome automatically scales to fit your screen. Objects appear exactly where they are in the real sky, updated in real time.OBJECT SELECTION & TRACKINGTap any object on the dome to select it — detailed information appears instantly. A blue highlight marks the selected object. Use Unselect to clear, or Solo mode to isolate a single object while hiding everything else. Solo automatically exits when the tracked object drops below the horizon. When a satellite is selected, a green dotted arc with an arrowhead traces its predicted orbital path across the sky in 30-second steps over the next 10 minutes. Selected aircraft show a short trajectory based on their current heading and speed.POINT & HEAD TRACKINGPoint mode lets you aim your mobile device at any part of the sky to instantly select the nearest object — simply rotate, and the dome highlights what you are looking at. Head tracking mode continuously rotates the sky dome to match your device's compass, keeping your digital view perfectly aligned with reality as you turn. A manual heading override is also available.SEARCHThe search bar above the dome filters all visible objects by name with auto-suggest as you type. Tap a suggestion to jump to and select that object on the dome.SATELLITESSatellite positions are computed from the latest NORAD TLE data via Celestrak, with automatic fallback to SatNOGS. All Celestrak groups are supported — visual, Starlink, OneWeb, stations, active, weather, GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, science, and more. Each group can be shown or hidden individually from Settings. A local file cache prevents redundant downloads (refreshes every 12 hours). You can set a minimum elevation threshold and an apparent magnitude cutoff to filter out satellites near the horizon or below a chosen brightness (set ≤ 6 for naked-eye visibility under dark skies).PLANETSMercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are positioned using VSOP87-based orbital calculations. Show or hide planets with a single toggle in Settings. Name labels appear next to each planet on the dome.SUN & MOONThe Sun and Moon are rendered at their current exact positions and can be shown or hidden independently via Settings toggles.ASTEROIDS & COMETSMinor solar system bodies including Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, Juno, Eunomia, Hygiea, Interamnia, Europa, Davida, and Psyche, plus comets like Halley, Encke, 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko, Tempel 1, Wild 2, and Hartley 2. Positions are calculated from IAA orbital elements with secular rate propagation. Toggle visibility independently in Settings.STARS & CONSTELLATIONSA bright star catalog renders stars sized by their apparent magnitude. Constellation lines connect the major stars, making familiar patterns easy to recognize. Toggle stars, constellation lines, and star name labels independently in Settings.AIRCRAFTLive aircraft positions are fetched from the OpenSky Network within a roughly 2-degree bounding box around your location. A minimum elevation control keeps the display uncluttered. Selected aircraft show a short trajectory arc based on heading and speed.LOCATION SETUPThree ways to set your observation location:• City Search: type a city name and select from geocoded results (powered by Nominatim / OpenStreetMap)• GPS: lock your current position using device GPS when available• Manual: enter latitude and longitude in degrees, minutes, and secondsThe Home button instantly restores your saved default location from Settings. Your current location label and local time (with DST adjustment) update automatically.SETTINGS• Toggle visibility of Satellites, Planets, Stars, Sun, Moon, Asteroids, Comets, and Aircraft• Per Celestrak-group toggles (only groups with available data appear)• Minimum elevation and apparent magnitude controls for satellites• Minimum elevation control for aircraft• Configurable auto-refresh interval (pauses automatically when Settings or Info tab is active)• Default city, latitude, and longitude storageDATA SOURCES• Satellites: Celestrak (NORAD TLE) / SatNOGS• Planets: Meeus VSOP87 orbital elements• Asteroids & Comets: IAA orbital elements (secular rate propagation)• Stars: Bright star catalog (Hipparcos-based)• Aircraft: OpenSky Network (CC-BY 4.0)• Geocoding: Nominatim (OpenStreetMap contributors)ALSO AVAILABLE ON THE MICROSOFT STOREA trial version is available on the Microsoft Store:https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/9NRXQTDC12DF?cid=DevShareMCLPCSThis is a fully functional trial with time-limited access — purchase the full version directly from the Microsoft Store if you prefer a native desktop experience.
