The Nightlight Parade
Page 1Lila loved bedtime—almost. She liked her soft blanket, her bedtime stories, and her stuffed bunny, Mr. Hops. But when the lights went out, her room felt too big and too dark.Page 2One night, Lila whispered, “I wish the dark wasn’t so scary.” Mr. Hops didn’t answer, but his button eyes seemed to sparkle in the moonlight.Page 3Mom came in and sat beside her. “The dark can feel strange,” she said, “but it’s full of quiet magic. Want to see?” Lila nodded slowly.Page 4Mom turned on Lila’s nightlight. It glowed softly, painting golden stars on the wall. “This little light keeps watch while you sleep,” Mom said. “It’s the leader of the Nightlight Parade.”Page 5“The Nightlight Parade?” Lila asked, sitting up.“Yes,” said Mom. “When the world goes to sleep, tiny lights come out to dance.”Page 6Lila looked around her room. The glow from her nightlight shimmered across her bookshelf. The silver moonlight peeked through the curtains. Even the tiny red light on her clock blinked like a sleepy eye.Page 7“They’re all part of the parade!” Mom said. “The moonlight twirls, the stars sparkle, and your nightlight leads the way.”Page 8Lila smiled. “So the dark isn’t empty—it’s full of lights that dance?”“Exactly,” said Mom. “They keep you company until morning.”Page 9Mom tucked Lila in and kissed her forehead. “Close your eyes and listen. The Nightlight Parade is starting.”Page 10Lila listened. The house was quiet except for the soft hum of the fridge and the whisper of the wind. She imagined tiny lights marching gently through her room, waving to her as they passed.Page 11Soon, Lila wasn’t scared anymore. She felt safe and warm, surrounded by her glowing friends. Her eyelids grew heavy as the parade drifted into her dreams.Page 12When morning came, sunlight filled her room. Lila stretched and smiled. “Good job, Nightlight Parade,” she whispered. “See you tonight.”The End
