A Yearlong WRAP Sequence: 40 Extensive WRAP Prompts/Tasks
WELCOME NOTE: If you’re looking to assign at least one meaningful, graded WRAP prompt/task per week (most require a minimum of one strong, thoughtful – and preferably handwritten – paragraph), start here. Feel free to assign each of the 40 prompts/tasks below in sequential order (weeks 1 through 40), tweaking, adding, omitting, etc. as needed. Or pick the prompts/tasks that work best for your classroom (whether students are reading whole-class or self-selected books) and assign them as needed throughout the year. As a reminder, this resource, along with the Read and WRAP (write, reflect, analyze, participate) framework, was developed by Dr. Jarred Amato, award-winning educator and author of Just Read It: Unlocking the Magic of Independent Reading in Middle and High School Classrooms. Do not hesitate to contact jarred.amato@gmail.com with questions, comments, keynote/workshop inquiries, etc. I’d be honored to collaborate and to support your team’s literacy efforts. My hope is that, in this algorithmic and artificial age, we continue to read widely and to read often – and that we encourage our students to do the same.
