The old man and the sea

Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea (1952) is a short heroic novel about Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman, who endures an epic struggle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. The book won the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 and was central to Hemingway receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954.
